This position has a fully on-site schedule based out of our Main Office Building in Downtown Cleveland and will require travel to various GCRTA locations throughout Cuyahoga County to resolve network issues. Travel will typically be with a GCRTA employee with a GCRTA vehicle. The Network Engineer role is focused on maintaining & supporting GCRTAs network, including but not limited to configuring & managing routers, switches, wireless access points, firewalls, IP Addressing & Schema, VPN, and more. Responsibilities: • Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve complex network issues • Resolve network related issues by either phone, email, remote or in person support • Evaluate and make recommendations to improve network performance throughout the Authority • Implementation, integration of data center, cloud, and end user network, and wireless architecture experience • Leverage tools such as Lansweeper, PowerShell, PRTG, Putty, SSH, Telnet, Wireshark • Manage, Configure, Physical (Cisco) & Virtual (Azure) Firewalls • Wireless Access Point Management specifically Ubiquiti • Site to Site VPN Management • Partner with external vendors and internal stakeholders to achieve resolution on concurrent projects. • Collaborate on the creation and maintenance of policies and assists with the development of standards, guidelines, and procedures that are consistent with company goals, industry best practices, and regulatory requirements. Preferred Requirements • Bachelor Degree in in Network Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field of study • Network +, Cisco CCNA CCNP Enterprise, Datacenter, and Security certifications Minimum Requirements: • Associate Degree in Network Engineering, Information Systems, or a related field of study • At least five (5) years of relevant networking experience • Experience supporting multiple off-site locations • Experience using Ticketing Software such as FreshService or equivalent • Experienced in MPLS, OSPF, Vlan, PTP, TACACS / Radius, VLSM, EIGRP, and other network protocols • Extensive Router & Switches experience, specific to Cisco, Cisco Meraki, and Brocade • Well established background in WAN /LAN / Wireless Networks Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: • Working knowledge and principles around IaaS, PaaS, and SaaS Cloud Infrastructure • Detailed understanding of TCP / IP • Understanding of AT&T ASE On Demand, Fatpipes (SDWAN), and Cellular • Strong understanding & concept of the 7 Layers of the OSI Network Model • Skills to successfully troubleshoot and document network engineering issues and solutions • Effective communication skills • Ability to work independently as well as collaborate with cross-functional team members • Ability to collaborate, multi-task, prioritize work Physical Demands While performing the duties of this role, the individual may regularly be required to sit or stand for up to 8 or more hours a day.
