A General Transit Feed Specification Realtime (GTFS-realtime) feed will be created using the data in the ODB and published at regular scheduled intervals. A web service API will be made available for interaction with the ODB with anticipated use cases in mind. Task 1. Design of clients Own relational Database (ODB) The ODB will be a Microsoft SQL Server (version 2008 or later) relational database. The database should be architected and optimized with anticipated use-cases in mind. The database should have an efficient table structure and be properly indexed. Database table structure should effectively enable enforcement of anticipated user roles. The database should maintain referential integrity and employ a transactional data engine. The database should be configured in a manner consistent with the ACID model. Design should be informed by both the data to be received via the Mentor APIs as well as potential use-cases as outlined. The architecture and optimization of the database must be documented. Client will receive copies of all such documentation. Deliverables: • Functional ODB • Diagrams & Documentation of ODB architecture • ODB Instantiation,Testing, and Optimization Task 2. Mine Data Via Mentor API The ODB must be updated via the existing Mentor Engineering APIs by querying data at regular, scheduled intervals. The majority of data is static in nature. As such, most of the data may be scheduled to be updated daily outside of service hours. However, there should be a simple interface available to end users allowing the update to be run on demand. Data from Mentors Real Time Web service APIs should be updated during service hours and with high frequency. The update frequency for this data must be at least every two minutes. Sub-minute frequency, if feasible, is preferred. All mined data must be inserted into the ODB in a manner that is consistent with the sql-92 standard. Data may have to be processed and/or reformatted before insertion into the ODB. Deliverables: • Installation, configuration, and successful test of Mentor Data Mining • Accompanying documentation • Source code (if applicable) Task 3. Create and Publish GTFS-realtime GTFS- realtime is a feed specification that allows public transportation agencies to provide realtime updates about their fleet to application developers. One of the applications that uses GTFS-realtime is Live Transit Updates, which is a feature on Google Maps that provides live departure and arrival times. GTFS-realtime feeds will be generated using data from the ODB. All existing feed types should be supported (trip updates, service alerts, and vehicle positions). Upon creation the feeds should be transferred to the published location on a client web server. At minimum, a simple interface should be available to activate/deactivate feeds and manage basic configuration (such as published location).
