Job Description : Sr. DBA GENERAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: - Manages the database administration workload to ensure the success of the team in their support of the database availability and performance requirements - Partners with DevOps and Infrastructure teams to deliver integrated systems solutions and stable operating platforms - Supports all system security policies and methods and proactively ensures the appropriate access to sensitive data - Work with data architects and subject matter experts to evaluate the physical database structure and the impact of proposed changes - Participate in code reviews, assist in performance tuning, define standards, recommend and establish policies - Resolve database and application related issues; apply new patches, keep the environment up to date, fix SQL code related bugs - Responsible for performance tuning, query optimization & index tuning - Automate, and govern database releases - Ability to operate in a high transaction environment supporting 24/7 processing - Ability to participate in the on-call rotation for operational issue escalation. MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS: - Broad DBMS experience with hands-on DBA background of MySQL as well as knowledge of the tools, utilities, database access languages, and various 3rd party tools (such as Dynatrace, DBmaestro, and so on) to support industry-standard database environments - Broad DBMS experience with hands-on DBA background of Postgres is a plus - Prior experience with Amazon Aurora is a plus - Must have solid database technology skills; problem-solving ability; as well as extensive subject area knowledge, and communications skills. - Secondary focus is on OLAP databases (such as Vertica) - Experience running on Cloud Services such as Amazon Aurora and AWS RDS is highly desirable - Database Design: deep knowledge of the physical database design parameters, tuning options, and need to tailor database instances to the processing requirements of the business systems (e.g. OLTP design considerations versus warehouse implementations). Understanding of logical data design integration and maintenance as well as the trade-offs required to meet business processing requirements - Customer service soft skills and belief in the value of SLAs - Database DR and/or Business Continuity background - Excellent problem-solving skills with strong analytical ability and creative troubleshooting - Deep understanding of database monitoring requirements - Ability to troubleshoot methodically, identifying and applying fixes for known errors, and when necessary, capacity to think outside of the box to resolve complex issues EEO Employer It is an Equal Employment Opportunity/Affirmative Action Employer.
