This will include working closely with clinical staff, editing and transcribing within the discharge summary, accessing, and reading physician, social work, nursing, dietician, and legal progress notes and making sure all aspects of the patients stay are incorporated within the discharge summary. You will also alert the appropriate staff when deficiencies are discovered, and alert providers that the summary is ready for finalization. The elements of the discharge summary include patient history, reason for hospitalization, diagnoses, significant events occurring during stay including procedures and treatments, medication management, mental status at the time of admission and discharge, and the patient aftercare plan. You will be looking at the patients stay from admission through discharge. You will also work closely with the correspondence clerk in the medical records department to ensure that discharge summaries required for court orders are completed and ready promptly. This role will also be trained as a backup for the Utilization Review Nurse. Utilization Review involves verifying insurance and providing insurance carriers with reviews on their patients in a timely manner.   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
