Description: This System Architect is responsible for the oversite of the Agency Infrastructure and Technical Services. They will support the creation of strategies related to, and effectively implementing Agency infrastructure core applications and systems. Job activities will include installations,coordination, and maintenance of our Agency systems,software and related infrastructure components. They will also serve as a trusted advisor to the Chief Technical Officer to contribute to, review, and implement technical systems roadmaps, analyze roles and responsibilities, and advise on how they should be divvied between various technical teams for new and emerging technologies and services. The System Architect will seek to ensure that the uptime, performance, resources, and security of applications they manage meet the needs of the users and ensure that Agency compliance with policies and regulatory requirements are met. This Architect will have an integral liaison role in working with the Department of Administration (DOA),Division of Enterprise Technology (DET) infrastructure teams to architect new systems, review existing technology, or evaluate performance on any of the Agency Core systems. They will also be required to create Visio diagrams for Core systems including all components, interfaces, and their connectivity connections as needed to define the architecture of our existing systems or new technology being considered. The Candidate should have advanced level knowledgeof core Microsoft technologies. These include but notlimited to: Active Directory Domain Services, DHCP,DNS, Group Policies, Distributed Files services and security, certificate creation and renewal, and numerous Windows Operating Systems. Knowledge of VMware and PowerShell scripting a plus. Experience with Microsoft Azure services and support, and knowledge of two factor authentication withsystems like OneSpans Digipass, M365 MFA, and/or HID Smart Cards, are a plus in hiring considerations. Working knowledge of VMware Horizon View 7 or 8 components or Azure Virtual Desktops is also a plus. The candidate will be an expert technical advisor to the Technical Services Section and will collaborate with our BITS sections and vendor partners to provide an expert level of knowledge of our systems architecture. They will have the ability to evaluate new and upgraded systems to determine any negative impacts and mitigate risks to the production environment. The candidate will follow industry standard best practices and methodologies and provide knowledge transfer to other staff through both directand indirect communication. The candidate should have experience creating technical documentation, policies, and procedures. On-call and/or after business hours are required with this position.
