Works as a member of a team to provide technical expertise related to all aspects of the Storage Engineer responsibilities. This includes IT work requests, projects, trouble tickets, and overall availability/performance of SAN and backup environments. Evaluates plans, designs, implements, and supports the storage and backup environments. Assists with establishing and maintaining hardware and software standards, estimates effort and resources, and ensures that cost and schedules are met. Educational Requirements Bachelors degree required. Experience Requirement Five (5) years experience with SAN technologies. Any TSM experience is a plus. Specialized Knowledge and Skills Requirements Strong knowledge of Storage Area Network systems (preferably EMC), backup systems (preferably TSM), and associated technologies. Must have good communication skills, be detail oriented, have the ability to multi-task, and be adaptable to change. Have excellent planning and organizational skills, as well as good decision-making/problem-solving skills. Required to interact and communicate effectively in collaboration with others, within the organization as well as outside vendors. Essential Standard Job Function Install, configure, support, and maintain the Storage Area Network (SAN) and Network Attached Storage (NAS), the enterprise backup environments, and associated technologies. Ensure an effective and efficient storage and backup system for the organization. Proactively manage backup and SAN storage environments by monitoring alerts, troubleshooting hardware and performance issues, provisioning, audit reporting, and patch management for all systems. Manage, transform, and provide user access to large data sets. Perform scheduled activities and capacity planning for local data storage and backups; work to resolve any storage shortages. Maximize the storage infrastructure and provide optimal availability, performance, and disaster recovery readiness. Monitor backup systems, storage arrays and SAN switches, maintain proper backup schedule, and restore/recover data as requested.
