Short Description:

Responsible for the migration of a case tracking system currently on an Oracle server using a Microsoft .NET v1.0 Framework to a SQL server using Microsoft .NET v4.0. PS will then begin to enhance the new system to provide the users with more features.

Complete Description:

The Product Specialist (PS) will be responsible for the migration of a case tracking system currently on an Oracle server using a Microsoft .NET v1.0 Framework front end to a SQL server using Microsoft .NET v4.0. Once that is completed, the PS will then begin to enhance the new system to provide the users with more features to reduce clerical duties in order to provide quicker resolution to their case work . The PS will work with in house IT staff and end users to complete the enhancements already identified by the agency. The PS will also provide suggestions on possible future integration of the system with a SharePoint document management system.

The Product Specialist (PS) should have at least 5 years experience in the Microsoft .NET framework as well as 5 years experience in Microsoft SQL server and at least 3 years experience with Oracle servers. The PS should also have at least 3 years experience with Microsoft SharePoint.

Position will be a full time (8 hours per day, 5 day a week), in-house position located in Trenton, New Jersey. Some travel to Newark, New Jersey may also be required for on site status meetings. The Newark office is located within a 10 minute walk from NJ Transits Penn Station. Selected applicant will have to submit to a police background check before starting the assignment.

This position is a non-supervisory position that will work closely with the IT project manager, in-house agency IT staff and end-users to complete the assignment. This will require the PS to have excellent communication skills, both oral and written, in order to convey technical aspects of the system to non-technical end users, to provide written documentation on the migration and modifications to the system and provide detailed developer documentation as to the system design at the end of the project. The PS must also be able to work with end users to interpret the user requirements for the modification portion of the project.

The enhanced system will also have internet connectivity to give outside entities the ability to login and get specific read only information. The PS will be required to suggest and develop the appropriate security measures to ensure the system is secure.

Other requirements of this position include, but are not limited to:

Experience in connecting scanned and electronic documents residing on a separate file server to the relevant case within the case tracking system.

Ability to gather and interpret user requirements.

Perform system impact analyses on production upgrades.

Communicate accurate and useful status updates.

Ability to follow industry programming standards when coding the system.

Determine appropriate time estimates for each upgrade task and develop schedule for testing and deploying of upgrades.

Make recommendations for additional enhancements to the system.

Provide documentation to be used by agency to create user manuals of the system.

Provide complete specifications and programmers guide to the system.
