Maintains data storage configurations to provide capacity planning and performance monitoring/tuning of the storage arrays. Responsible for effective installation and configuration, operation and maintenance of SAN system software and related infrastructure. Must be available for support by pager or telephone 24 hours per day x 7 days per week. Essential Functions and Responsibilities Performs a wide variety of daily storage management tasks to provide efficient and reliable storage allocation. Monitors use and availability of storage resources. Allocates LUNs as needed. Configure various RAID levels for storage. Adheres to all Enterprise Change Management (ECM) procedures per IS policy. Makes configuration upgrades. Identifies impact of enhancement requests. Assists customers to identify and resolve problems. Escalation point for storage array issues. Develops procedures under approved policy structure. Provides users with highest quality service, system expertise, and escalates issues appropriately. Performs capacity planning for storage area network hardware and software. Assesses impact of and recommends solutions based on current and future data volume needs. Assesses and recommends vendor tools for enterprise data storage. Maintain documentation of storage systems and recommends best practices for SAN management. Develops and implements business continuity practices for storage management. Generates reports and analysis on storage usage. Education Bachelors Degree in Business Management, Information Systems, Computer Science or related field. Equivalent work experience in-lieu of education will be considered. Work Experience 3 - 4 years related experience. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Detailed oriented and able to work independently as well as part of an integrated team. Strong interpersonal skills as well as strong written and verbal skills. Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills. Strong organizational and planning skills. Experience managing and installing storage area networks (SAN) systems including EMC VMAX, VNX and Unity, NetApp, and SAN switches. Familiarity with virtualization technologies such as VmWare. Familiarity with Oracle, Cache and/or MS SQL databases Familiarity with tape backup systems and Storage Resource Monitoring. Knowledge of Windows & Unix operating systems, and usage of connectivity with HBA devices.
