Description:

We are seeking a Project Manager to work as a key part of the project management team for delivery of a complex application development and organizational change project. The candidate must:

• Be a self-starter with a track record of delivering complex IT solutions,

• Have an understanding ofand past experience with solution development methodologies, including Agile development processes,

• Possess strong technical, coordination, and project management skills,

• Focus on big picture and project objectives and at the same time be capable of performing detailed work such as requirements management, meeting facilitation and scheduling, project schedule management, contract management, and vendor management,

• Collaborate with NPERS staff, Omaha Public Schools (OPS) staff, OSERS staff, project colleagues, contractors/vendors, and other stakeholders to review strategies, identify requirements, assess impacts to processes and systems, perform issue and risk management, compare costs and benefits, make recommendations, and ensure solutions are successfully implemented and sustained.

In addition, the Project Manager will:

• Develop and manage the project plans and project controls to be used for scheduling,

• Monitor actual expenditures compared to the project budget,
• Forecast project staffing requirements and perform resource management,
• Manage requirements, scope, risks, issues, and changes,
• Establish appropriate metrics for measuring key project success criteria,
• Undertake status review reporting among project team members,
• Communicate progress on the project to the project steering committee, the Public Employees Retirement Board (PERB) and stakeholders on a regular basis, and
• Ensure team members are kept up to date on the health and status of the project.

Broadly, the position consists of some or all the following duties:

• Initiating: formalizing a project charter, documenting project objectives and a benefits realization plan; finalizing project scope;managing and engaging stakeholders; finalizing and supporting project governance structures and processes; creating project control processes and artifacts.

• Performing Vendor Management: managing the project processes associated with the execution of the project, including planning, deliverables review management, contract compliance monitoring; serve as the main point of contact between the implementation vendor and NPERS.

• Planning: validating the accuracy of the Work Breakdown Structures (WBS) and project plans developed by the implementation vendor and providing independent reporting on progress against that schedule; setting up project tools and infrastructure; conducting meetings with governance groups; creating project controls for issue, risk and financial management; project reporting and task management / measurement.

• Business Requirements: overseeing and assisting with logistics of the work of teams in translating business objectives and vision into clear business requirements.

• Technical Requirements:overseeing and assisting with the logistics of the work with technical teams and system integrators to deliver functionality and needs as defined in the business requirements.

• Solution design: overseeing and assisting with the logistics ofthe work of teams in defining concepts and principles for “as-is” and “to-be” states; conducting gap, process and workflow analysis.
