Description: Project Details CSX has outfitted 3 geometry cars with Lidar – 24/365 – collecting data on railroad (3D laser scans of the entire CSX railroad. There are massive amounts of data on hard drives that gets dumped back at CSX and 3 people are manually looking through the data and comparing other data for changes. The primary goal is to look at the critical assets (switches, signals, mile posts). The team wants to automatically build a tool that looks at data and finds changes. This is what the algorithms will do, identify changes. 3D scans show clearances – vegetation growth (trees, bushes – to trim them) The scanner sees all this stuff to help them maintain the railroads. Day to Day Responsibilities Build/ develop efficient algorithms Identify locations of various railroad assets Top Requirements C++ and Phython Lidar (must have familiarity) Computer Science- Knowledge of how to build efficient algorithms Nice to Have Master degree Machine Vision frameworks Geometric data structures Linear and vector algebra Client Job Description The manager has been working with GIS group for the past several month on a project to identify location of various railroad assets (such as road crossings, switches, traffic signals, and so on) from LIDAR data.
