Role Objective : Participates in the Performance and Infrastructure teams load and stress testing activities surrounding Web based, middleware applications, a set of web services built on varying technologies (Dot Net, J2EE based web services, MQ, Stored Procedures). This project will handle performance testing duties for WF ATM/POS Platform. Extensive experience at script customization is required to handle parsing of server responses, string manipulation, as well as handling encryption and binary formats. Experience at integrating Load Runner to machine generated workflow sequences. Participates in the project life cycle, from analysis to production implementation, with emphasis on test data metric analysis, performance testing, load/stress testing, and auditable documentation of plan and test results. Candidate has continuous work history showing 4-5 years of exclusive performance testing. Primary Role Deliverables : Provide test planning based on analysis of requirements and design documents Execute performance / volume testing to ensure all development deliverables are production ready Write/maintain test case scripts and execute; document detailed results and summary report Multi-task between current release, install activities, and prioritize task for next release Interacts with project team members Business Analyst, DBA, and developers on testing requirements Monitors, isolates, and resolves testing errors, exceptions, and environmental problems. May act as lead tester on projects Manages testing tasks concurrently Communicates the overall execution of the test plan with group and business representatives May research production performance data May act as technical resource to other testers Additional responsibilities as directed by either the QA Lead or Management Authors and maintains complex Load Runner APIs embedded within test scripts Essential Skills / Knowledge / Experience: For a senior performance engineer, the experience criteria would be 4 to 5 years of solid performance testing using HP Performance Center 11 (Load Runner 9.5). A senior would be experienced in working with developers and business analysts to understand the scope and objectives of a test including resolution of any ambiguities surrounding the load drivers. The senior performance engineer would also have in depth experience at analysis of performance test cases, in depth understanding of the technology platforms being used (websphere, weblogic, IIS server, Apache, TomCat, Unix, Linux, Windows, etc), and of the topology required in orchestrating the most production like test orchestrations possible (Load Balancers, Application server nodes, data base servers, MQ managers, JDBC drivers, etc.). In depth experience with all LR protocol bundles specifically HTTP/HTML, XML, Tuxedo, Click N Script, Java over http. The senior performance engineer will be experienced at defining the test cases to meet the performance test goals. He or she would be able to demonstrate superior abilities in using Performance Center to customize build / record scripts using various protocols available. They would be able to expertly use dynamic data correlation, parameterization, as well as setting up configurations and troubleshooting the results of a test. The SPE would be proficient at understanding what performance counters would be important to enable to profile the application.
