Serves as a member of the Network Operations team working closely with developers, Quality Assurance (QA), and other business partners to deploy mission critical systems. Works with the business units to provide the implementation of database strategies, performance improvements, optimization, and problem analysis. Participates in developing and designing global database strategies, database policies, standards, and procedures. Keeps records of maintenance activities and system performance. Works on portions of the database carrying both proprietary and non-public personal information. Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned: Handle day-to-day database administration including: oSpace allocation and management, build schema, optimization, backup, and recovery oDB instance performance monitoring and tuning, capacity planning oStandards identification and compliance oNew product/release evaluation and support Implementing and supporting Enterprise-level ORACLE solutions for both our Corporate and remote data centers Providing guidance on developing industry standard applications using ORACLE 11g and 12c RAC databases Performing routine maintenance on database servers, related services and security Architecting, deploying, and maintaining a database environment with a strong emphasis on reliability, scalability, and security Develop database documentation, including diagrams, Standard Operating Procedures, and work instructions Qualifications: Computer Skills: - To perform this job successfully, an individual should have knowledge of word processing software; spreadsheet software; Internet software and database software. - Hardware experience including Dell and Sun server class equipment. - Demonstrated experience with one or more required: Oracle 11g/12c and RAC, Microsoft SQL Server 2000, MySQL, Network Attached Storage, Network Security, Veritas, Shell Script Education/Experience: - Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field; and four to six years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience Language Ability: - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. - Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals - Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public Math Ability: - Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume - Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry Reasoning Ability: - Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.
