Knowledge of Oracle and Sybase RDBMS configuration, security & account management, monitoring, and performance tuning is necessary. The DBA is responsible for developing new processes and automation to support data protection using native and 3rd party backup/recovery tools, and enforcing established infrastructure procedures and guidelines to ensure complete and consistent database migration and data protection. Proficiency meeting established service levels in a challenging environment is expected. The DBA will support Oracle and Sybase systems on Unix including Unix shell scripting and provide off hours support as needed. A successful candidate will be expected to be able to rapidly problem solve backup and restore processes issues and validate security and account entitlements. The role requires a process focus and consistent application of checklists and pre-handoff validations. Required Skills and Experience: Minimum experience of 2 years Sybase ASE administration in the UNIX environment Minimum experience of 2 years Oracle RDBMS administration in the UNIX environment Experience in writing and executing Unix scripts to backups and restore databases, general performance monitoring and tuning. Experience with Sybase backup and restore utilities and Oracle RMAN. Strong experience with database compliance, security, and auditing. Knowledge in the area of Unix/Linux Servers and enterprise storage like DMX, HDS, and NAS. Proficient verbal and written communication skills. Energetic and self-motivated team player with ability to work effectively and cooperatively with project and infrastructure teams and create and maintain positive and professional business relationships with both internal associates and external customers and vendors. Proficient at time and priority management. Desired Skills and Experience: Oracle Certified Professional Certification in Microsoft SQLServer2005/2008. Related technologies including Veritas Server Clustering, DBArtisan, and CA Autosys Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, or a related field.
