The BI Decision Support Specialist - Senior has a strong knowledge of predictive modeling methodology and tools used by the organization. The integrated organizational and technological strategies will drive business and process improvements by leveraging data assets and building proprietary methods for data triangulation and reconciliation of multiple sources. The BI Decision Support Specialist - Senior will be a thought leader in the area of analytics tools and methodologies, making recommendations to supplement and improve the analytics platform. They will work collaboratively to leverage team expertise along with their personal knowledge to deliver superior results by driving sophisticated data analytics to create competitive advantage. Required Skills: Identifies unique opportunities to collect new data and mine existing data. Experience in disparate data sources and bridging various sources to create a market view that can be used as a proprietary source of market data. Responsible for validation, quality control and integration of 3rd party data into systems ensuring cohesive, accurate reporting Designs new processes and is able to build large, complex data sets. Strategizes new uses for data and its interaction with data design using a variety of techniques and applications across various data sources. Shows executives how business intelligence (processes, practices and technologies) play a critical role in improving business management and optimization. Conducts research and makes recommendations on BI products and services. Ensure that all proper questions have been identified and influence the understanding of analytical processes and data needed for business examination and decision-making Participates in the project planning process as a team member and/or project lead. Provides technical coaching and mentoring to less-experienced team members. Performs advanced analytics Develop the semantic layers Conducts modeling and simulations Evaluate business intelligence tools or products where applicable Minimum five years of experience as a data scientist or related experience supporting multiple business functions, preferably progressive responsibilities within an established analytics team in the transportation or travel industry Masters or other advanced degree in Statistics, Mathematics or a related quantitative discipline Experience with statistical methodologies and tools (R, SAS, SPSS, etc) and predictive modeling Experience with data visualization tools such as Tableau Advanced knowledge of database technologies and SQL language for querying and manipulating datasets. Extensive exposure to data warehousing concepts including data integration and data warehouse objects Must have an in-depth understanding of the business environment and a strategic thinker, interested in going beyond the obvious, delving into the source, the definition, and the fundamentals of business information Experience with modeling and simulations methodologies and algorithms Possesses in-depth knowledge of the business area of focus and is knowledgeable in most aspects of designing, developing, embedding, measuring, and refining predictive analytics models. The ability to bridge the gap between data science and business management. Demonstrated skill in project planning and collaborating within groups. Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to describe challenges and solutions in both technical and business terms.
