This model will be connected with Amazons internal databases. It will allow Amazons campus locations to forecast labor volume needed, gain assumptions, and gives them a number of how many associates the store needs. The main model (designed for stores in Seattle) will be the big heavy functioning model. Then it will get rolled out in a lighter version to the rest of the locations at large campuses. ***The connection points between the needed model and the internal databases are are there, but this contractor will need to fetch labor data and put it into the model to make it functional (this is where SQL comes in) ***This contractor needs domain experience and experience working on projects in the retail sector. They will also need to be familiar with operations. ***This contractor will be interacting with level 5-7s on various teams at Amazon, so they need to be very professional and have excellent communication skills. ***Biggest Amazon Leadership Principles for this role are Delivering Results (the contractor needs to be collaborative, has to seek time from different teams.) ***Not much chance for conversion, but if the contractor is a rockstar then the manager can see if theres any openings ***Interviews will be an AV interview with the manager, then an in person loop with 2-3 people. Core responsibilities include: Develop a scalable and robust Excel-based Labor Planning and Scheduling Model for a new business unit of Amazon using Microsoft Excel, SQL, and existing data models. Analyze patterns related to customer arrival, customer service, seasonal variations, picking, package returns, and volume forecasting to calculate the labor needs on daily basis. Develop detailed, crisp business requirements and use cases that can be used to create specifications and architecture for each module of labor planning model. Interface and partner with all levels of the Finance, Business Intelligence, Retail, and Operations teams. Own the design, development, and maintenance of metrics, reports, analyses, dashboards, etc. to drive key business decisions. Demonstrated ability to build and manage models for business forecasting, variance analysis, and problem solving. Learn and understand the broad range of Amazons data resources and know when, how, and which to use and which not to use. Build performance indicators, highlighting trends and analyzing causes of unexpected variance. Review data files for inconsistencies and take corrective actions to assure clean and complete data files are delivered to other teams. Basic Qualifications 6 years of experience Advanced Microsoft Excel, SQL, Access, and Reporting Tools skills. Having functional knowledge of Retail Ops and Finance domain is preferred. Experience in data mining (MySQL, ETL, data warehouse, etc.) and using databases in a business environment with large-scale, complex datasets. Ability to thrive in a fast paced, multi-tasking environment with shifting priorities Highest standards of accuracy and precision; highly organized. Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills Ability to think creatively, highly-driven and self-motivated Experience of SQL Server and Oracle databases.
