The candidate will serve in the capacity of a Database Administrator and will communicate a well-defined vision of how IT and the business will align and make sure that everyone if following the same principles, methodologies, and support activities per the direction of agency management. The specific focus of this candidate will be to ensure that new systems are built in a way that best ensures that functional requirements are met whilst also ensuring that service qualities (Performance, scalability, extensibility, maintainability, security, interoperability) for now and for the future are achievable. In addition, this role is responsible for reviewing and improving on existing systems, and methodologies to seek continual improvement for existing systems. The candidate will participate in the design and development activities in support of the agencys continued development and maintenance of CCWIS/SACWIS applications. The specific focus of this candidate will be the key DB2 production support. POSITION ROLE AND DELIVERABLES The candidate will serve in the capacity of an application DBA, providing technical expertise in the support of the agencys DB2 environment. Additionally, a candidate in this capacity will also be responsible for supporting the IBM Mainframe (Batch) environment as well as ongoing responsibilities as a mainframe (COBOL/DB2) senior programmer/analyst. While the actual management and oversight of the mainframe team will be the responsibility of a State manager, the candidate will be expected to ensure the continuity of technical activities according to published planning guidance and to provide technical implementation guidance relative to the mainframe DB2 environment. The candidate will participate in certain design, development and maintenance activities in support of the DB2 Environment. The candidate analyzes and documents requirements for information systems; develops and/or oversees plans for automated data processing systems from project inception to conclusion; constructs data models and activity/process models as may be required to define system functions; coordinates closely with the Application Development and Application Support Managers, Business Analysis or peer Programmers to ensure proper implementation of program and system specifications; develops, in conjunction with functional users alternative solutions; provides support for the installation, testing, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of batch systems; tests, debugs, and refines the computer software to produce the required product; prepares required documentation, including both program-level, user-level and system documentation and finally, enhances software to reduce operating time or improve efficiency.
