Description : The Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT) Information Technology Division (ITD) is seeking a senior SQL Server database administrator to join the Oracle/SQLServer Database Administration Team in the Enterprise Data Management section. The selected candidate will administrator & support SQLServer databases throughout the agency. The selected candidate have: • Expertise working as a SQLServer DBA • Expertise working with SQL clustering, mirroring and high availability • Experience working with large SQL databases • Expertise in writing Transact SQL • Experience tuning Oracle and/or SQLServer databases • Expertise in installing, upgrading, patching and migrating SQLServer databases • Experience working on Windows environment • Experience working with SSIS, SSAS & SSRS • Monitor databases to maintain/ensure database uptime and availability. • Troubleshoot application/database issues related to connectivity, access, security and etc... • Tune long running SQL • Review & refine existing database tasks and processes to better align with agency/group priorities. • Leverage & utilize O/S scripting utilities in support of database maintenance/diagnosis/support • Review the existing database implementation and propose, execute, and/or direct necessary changes. • Perform SQLServer installations (2012,2014,2016 w/ failover clustering) • Support SQLServer databases (administration, support, tuning) • Knowledgeable of data modeling principals Be expected to... • Rely on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. • Independently perform a variety of complicated tasks. • Work with a team of Oracle & SQLServer DBAs. • Communicate clearly and effectively, both speaking and in writing. Qualifications: • At least 5 years of experience w/ SQLServer database experience • Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or other applicable and/or equivalent skills, knowledge and/or work history. • Demonstrated experience in communicating effectively using standard requirements and design artifacts Desired knowledge of and experience with the following technologies: • SQLServer 2008-2016   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
