Job Description Tester: Oracle Database Environment, SQA, Design, SQL Java SDLC Database Testing

Description:
Plan and direct the installation of Information Technology projects which typically involve and impact multiple business areas.


Responsibilities:
Facilitate the development of an SQA framework of agreed upon software development standards and procedures to be followed throughout the SDLC.
Ensure that test cases exist and are executed for issues and functionalities to be promoted to production.
Backend database testing in Oracle Database environment
Review functional and design specifications to ensure full understanding of individual deliverables.
Isolate, replicate, and report defects and verify defect fixes.
Identify any potential quality issues per defined process and escalate potential quality issues immediately to management.
Hold and facilitate test plan/case reviews with cross-functional team members.
Execute and evaluate manual or automated test cases and report test results.
Develop, document and maintain functional test cases and other test artifacts like the test data, data validation, harness scripts and automated scripts.
Identify test requirements from specifications, map test case requirements and design test coverage plan.
Statistically analyze data and interpret findings to identify application defects.
Retrieve data from various sources and prepare data for analysis.
Work on data manipulation and extraction.
Verify accuracy of data pulled and revise methods of data retrieval by following a standard process.
Perform data conversions (ETL) from several data sources, develop necessary SQL for loading, updating and maintaining data tables.


Qualifications:
Has expert knowledge of SQL, MS Access, and MS Excel
Has familiarity with QA tools and techniques, bug tracking systems, test design and execution.
Has experience working in a variety of programming languages and environments including Java and other Object Oriented languages
Experience in Energy Industry/Trading, Banking or Risk applications a plus
Develop complex SQL queries against various data and computer sources. Including complex Sub queries, correlated queries, and nested queries.
Has excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Has BA/BS in Business, Computer Science or related field or equivalent experience.
Demonstrates a passion for quality assurance of end-user applications
Displays the ability to develop automated custom QA solutions where possible.
Demonstrates the ability to solve problems creatively.
Demonstrates the ability to create, manipulate and formulate spreadsheets. Knowledge of spreadsheet functionality including v-look-up, pivot tables, charts and graphing.
Has the ability to test using Ruby, Perl, VBA or SQL scripting languages.
Has the ability to launch small QA/QC projects and follow through to completion with some supervision.
Possesses working knowledge of some or all of the following quality assurance methods: unit, integration, regression, user interface automated testing.
