The candidate is required to have excellent knowledge of industry best practices. The Senior QA Engineer will be expected to test and support complex, web-based commercial applications within a Windows 2008 / SQL 2008 / IIS 7 environment. A high degree of experience and knowledge related to database testing, processing, data mining and validation is also desirable – any familiarity with X-Query will be a huge plus. The ideal candidate will have strong familiarity working with virtual server and PC environments. Excellent communication and collaborative skills are a must. This position requires a self-starter who is able to self-manage based on what the project team and test team identifies as priorities and flexible enough to succeed in a dynamically changing workscape. The individual must be comfortable in working in a team-focused, collaborative environment and participate in all tasks relating to test creation, automation, implementation and documentation. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES: · The individual will be expected to work closely with QA team members and interact with developers in the process of testing software prior to its release into production · The individual will be expected to work closely with other project team members during a typical software development life cycle · The QA tester will be expected to contribute to ongoing process improvements as well as skill-building team sessions. · Establish and maintains a close-working relationship with client community including first and second level management. · Utilize quantitative decision support tools, simulation and modeling techniques where appropriate. · Create and maintain technical feedback at testing results and makes recommendations to development and management on resolutions · Additional duties will be assigned as required. EXPERIENCE, EDUCATIONAL AND SKILLS REQUIREMENTS: · Strong technical skills, including proficiency in one or more scripting or programming languages · Bachelors Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Business Administration or equivalent work experience is required · Expertise in automation using descriptive programming language · Expertise in object-oriented programming · 4 or more years experience in Quality Assurance testing on Windows-based applications · Experience with web-based application deployments using IIS and Windows Server. · Knowledgeable of Microsoft SQL query writing – including ability to write complex queries. · In-depth understanding of Quality Assurance best practices and industry standards · Attention to detail – strong trouble-shooting skills, excellent multi-tasking · Interpersonal skills, to help negotiate priorities and to resolve conflicts among project stakeholders (such as customers, product management, and engineering) · Analytical skills, to critically evaluate the information gathered from multiple sources, reconcile conflicts, decompose high-level information into details, abstract up from low-level information to a more general understanding · Excellent written and communication skills WORKING CONDITIONS/PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS: Office environment, using personal computers and CRTs.
