Job Description Architect: SQL Query Manager, SQL Server, .Net, C# SharePoint 2010 MOSS

[Note : START DATE: 12/13/2011]

SCOPE OF THE PROJECT:

Under limited supervision, a SharePoint expert with 4+ years of SharePoint Portal and Office development experience is needed to complete specific development tasks to support the IT team at the South Carolina Department of Education responsible for developing and implementing SharePoint as the website hosting solution for a Longitudinal Data Warehouse system called SLICE (South Carolina Longitudinal Information Center for Education). This solution was originally developed using SharePoint 2007, but the solution has been converted to SharePoint 2010. A 12 server SharePoint farm is in place and SLICE development and production are available. The URL has been configured for SLICE test but this site is not yet available. Phase I of SLICE is due to release as a Beta site to districts and schools January 2012. The employee in this position will work as a SharePoint designer/developer/architect to complete specific tasks and provide direction for the SLICE development team. This employee will be expected to complete specific deliverables as defined in Daily Duties/Responsibilities. The employee in this position will use SharePoint and Microsoft .NET and C# technology to continue development of SharePoint webparts for SLICE. Web parts will be designed to support the expansion and enhanced functionality of the longitudinal data warehouse. The employee in this position will be expected to direct and oversee the assignments of programmers and analysts working on SLICE until a SharePoint lead developer is hired as a temporary grant fulltime employee (TG-FTE) at the South Carolina Department of Education

DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES:

Specific responsibilities for the employee in this position include:

1. Complete the SharePoint/Data Warehouse data governance document (This document has been drafted but needs to be refined.)

2. Identify risks with associated strategies (as related to SLICE) identified for managing or mitigating risk.

3. Develop procedure for deploying development, changes and packages to the SharePoint solution and provide training for the SLICE development team.

4. Analyze and correct the following problems:
a. Correct Telerik webpart to allow drilldown to student level detail report and to pop open the student detail report (A report developed using SQL reporting services) once a student is selected.
b. Make MS PerformancePoint work with MS SharePoint 2010.

5. Document standards for future development of how to add users once Active Directory is in place. Assist web services with the design and development of the Single Sign-on solution to ensure SLICE is integrated into the Single Sign-on environment.

6. Develop standards for Application Analysts and Developers to follow:
a. Templates for formal documents
b. Checklists for development, unit and system testing and quality control

7. Provide a complete set of PowerSchool data elements in SLICE. (A partial set of PowerSchool data elements have been added to SLICE.)

8. Other general SharePoint responsibilities:
a. Write code and create deployment packages in support of SharePoint 2010 upgrades, migrations and custom application remediation.
b. Design, develop and distribute technical reusable .NET & C# web application components that interact with SharePoint and SharePoint web services.
c. Execute deployments of code and solutions on to target SharePoint 2010 farms and maintain and configure Microsoft SharePoint Portal Server application, including daily monitoring, troubleshooting, and performance analysis of the system.
d. Provide configuration, .NET, C#, and Web Services programming and maintenance support of user accounts and .NET Framework security as required within the SharePoint environment.
