Ideal candidate will have both breadth and depth of knowledge sufficient to allow them to be a self starter requiring very little detailed directions. Ideal candidate will also be able to quickly adapt to a fast-paced and changing environment. The position is on the production database support team. It involves troubleshooting and optimizing existing code. It involves supporting current infrastructure ranging from recovering missing artifacts (files etc) and events (reporting, settlement) for customers; and taking measures to keep the system up and running at all times. This position will involve some coding mainly related to bug fixes and internal utilities. Prior support knowledge is a plus. This position encompasses a variety of job duties and responsibilities that include but are not limited to the following: Be able to effectively work the incident ticket queue paying attention to shifting priorities. Be able to immediately provide status on ticket at hand including but not limited to upper management, internal customers including other departments like Operations Monitoring and National Support Center. Be able to provide status on current work on a predefined (at least daily) schedule. Support on-call rotation with several other members where the following is required: Be able to respond to all Severity 1 and Severity 2 tickets. Reply with an “I-got-it” message to support manager. Be able to work with other departments like the Monitoring group to resolve issue. Be able to provide a final status of the ticket via email. Be able to close the incident with necessary notes and impact analysis. Be prepared to spend extra hours when dealing with a high volume or high priority tickets. This may happen several times a week including at least one weekend per month. Be able to document the steps taken from any incident and handoff (with minimal training) to Operations Monitoring group. Provide development effort estimations. Code and implement solutions based on the detail design specifications Adhere to the Fiserv:EPS coding Standards Communicate effectively with several technical and non-technical groups internally. Ability to manage multiple responsibilities while effectively focusing on priority issues. Provide mentoring to other developers on cross-training efforts. Additional Responsibilities Participate in enterprise database architectural decisions Analyze database requirements of the end-user and propose specifications to meet requirements Recommend database structural changes, security policies and backup/recovery specifications Responsible for systems integration through database design Assist in the development of security features Provides technical database information to other systems software, computer operations, applications Responsible for database dictionary maintenance Skills and Qualifications Requires minimum of 5 years of strong database development knowledge including stored procedures, functions, DTS pkgs, SISS pkgs, triggers and error handling (SQL Server 2000, 2005 and/or SQL Server 2008). Practical knowledge of ETL/data loading in very large databases. Database administration skills including backups, restores, troubleshooting and security management for Microsoft SQL Server 200, 2005 and/or 2008.
