Front office energy trading is required in Gas, Power, or Financial Products preferably working directly with traders, trade analysts, trade control, and other front office personnel.

Location: West Houston, TX

Business Unit and Project Environment
North American Gas and Power (NAGP) IT&S Structured Products Americas Delivery team develops and manages custom applications as part of the IT infrastructure. In addition to development work, members are involved from start to finish on solutions that span across commodity groups, contributing or leading in activities such as requirements gathering, architecture/design, testing, etc. As a result, members of the team have frequent interaction with the trading business and IT&S teams.

Contract Description
As a Developer, you will be working directly with IT&S and Business users on the various tools that will support Structured Products Americas, working on the support and development of these highly specialized solutions.
Responsibilities

As a Developer, you will be working directly with the cross IT&S and Business Project team to meet their immediate business critical needs and longer term deliverables critical to the success of the project. Responsibilities include:
Design, develop, test and deploy applications and tools.
Contribute to the overall implementation of tactical and strategic solutions as part of the development team.
Develop scalable, reusable components and application framework.
Work with other developers, business analysts and testers as part of the wider team.
Undertake analysis of systems, business processes, data and interfaces.
Researches and evaluates alternative solutions and makes recommendations.
Assist with establishing an effective environment for iterative development.
Deliverables
Effective interpretation of functional and technical specifications.
Delivery of system enhancements and new tools.
Adhere to the development methods and practices established across NAGP IT&S.
Perform unit testing and functional testing.
Produce concise and relevant user and technical documentation enhancement when required.
Maintain collaborative relationships within NAGP business users and NAGP IT&S. Share knowledge and best practices, and ensure timely and consistent communication of issues, solutions and plans.
Assist in UAT and OAT if required.
Assist on other project and portfolio work where required.

Experience & Knowledge

Experience
5 years of development experience.
2-5 years of system analysis and design experience.
2 years experience with C# .NET development, Silverlight
Working knowledge of RDBMS and SQL
2 years experience and skills in developing solutions using VBA with Microsoft Access and Microsoft Excel.
Front office energy trading is required in Gas, Power, or Financial Products preferably working directly with traders, trade analysts, trade control, and other front office personnel.
Essential Knowledge
Experience as analyst developer using predominantly Windows technologies.
Experience programming in VBA with the MS Office suite of applications.
Experience with object oriented programming (for example Java, C++ or C# and .NET).
Good experience of development in database technologies such as SQL Server, Oracle, Sybase, and Access.
Demonstrates structured thinking and able to breakdown a problem.
Good communicator with clear and concise verbal and written communication.
Good planning and organizational skills with ability to manage and prioritize time effectively while multi-tasking.
Strong under pressure and excellent troubleshooting ability.
