Job Description Analyst: NFIP, Flood Insurance, Written And Verbal Communication Skills, Customer Service Skills FEMA

Flood Claims Examiner

This position requires the ability to provide technical direction and guidance to National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), agents, NFIP Adjusters regarding the NFIP Policy and its claims practices and procedures.

Qualifications:

Requires strong knowledge of the National Flood Insurance Program (NFIP), the ability to accurately examine and estimate flood related damages and process payments timely in accordance with Federal program requirements;
Preferably 3-5 yrs. of claims handling experience in flood insurance;
Must be detail-oriented, have excellent verbal, written, organizational, and customer service skills;
Must demonstrate the ability to coordinate work flow, deliver service to clients and meet required Service Levels;
Must be able to work extended hours during peak times and must be available to travel to disaster sites on short notice;
Must have the ability to effectively and professionally interact with clients, state and local officials, government representatives, and the general public.

Duties:

Examines and validates insurance adjusters flood claim reports to ensure that claims are paid accurately and in a timely manner within FEMA guidelines;
Accurately review/change reserves throughout the life cycle of a claim to ensure that flood claims are properly opened and closed in accordance to FEMA guidelines;
Responding to policy holders, adjusters, and agents in writing, email, or telephone calls with adjusters to give specific claim handling instructions/direction;
Correspond in writing, email, and/or telephone with insureds, agents, or other representatives to obtain information or provide information in regards to flood claims matters;
Review claims reports and perform internal claim audits; responsible for reviewing claim work performed by adjusters and in-house examiners for accuracy;
Review claims aging reports to determine that all claims are moving towards conclusion and Service Levels are met.
