As a Principle Engineer for the Splunk product, you will be a core component and driving force around maintaining and growing the reliability, performance and scalability of the Splunk Enterprise implementation for the organization. You will bring your knowledge of design and implementation of the Splunk platform to ensure it is optimally deployed and configured to be as performant and consumable as humanly possible. You will have and bring with you, not just a knowledge of Splunk, but an experience with best practices and tuning within every tier of the infrastructure and Applications. You will have strong experience with Splunk integrations and add-ons, including both premium integrations as well as the many technology apps and add-ons offered in the Splunk base community. You must have at least 3-5 years of in depth experience curating data and logs from various source types and input protocols like syslog, http/HEC along with standard Splunk forwarders. Your admin and advanced user skill set has enough balance that will allow you to jump into sometimes tuning poorly acting user searches and behavior to optimize for the good of the platform and the user. • Beyond the Splunk domain knowledge, you will bring a skill set and experience that includes both a wide and deep working experience and understanding of an enterprise technology infrastructure stack. You must have a general working knowledge of network and OSI model concepts and related technology solutions such as load balancers, proxy, firewall and port connectivity, and of course TCP/IP protocol knowledge. You must also have a deep working knowledge and background working with compute platforms spanning both Linux and Windows, with a heavy emphasis on Linux/Unix. You should have a good working knowledge of storage, virtualization and cloud technologies including hosted solutions like GCP Azure, Bluemix. Similarly, exposure and familiarity of cloud PaaS environments such as Cloud Foundry would be a big plus. A familiarity with middleware and messaging technologies ranging from Websphere, IBM MQ, Kafka, Datapower/Apigee is a plus. • You must come from a large enterprise environment that involves complexity in its ecosystem. You should know how to navigate and work cross functionally with supporting teams to ensure the needs of the Splunk product are met. • • The candidate should be quite familiar with a DevOps culture and supporting technology such as CI/CD pipeline tools and implementation like Chef,Ansible, Git and Jenkins. You have knowledge and affinity for automation when and where possible, looking to optimize configuration, data on-boarding and other processes aiding the daily maintenance of the platform. You look at everything and ponder how it can be made leaner and automated, and plotting the course to make it easier wherever and whenever you can. Qualifications • 8 - 12 years with a Bachelors Degree or higher • Experience of enterprise infrastructure management tools - architecture design, development, integration, customization & implementation, specifically logging, monitoring, configuration management and orchestration tools, such as Splunk, ELK, Ansible, Chef, Nagios, Dynatrace, Prometheus. • Experience integrating Splunk with ServiceNow is a big plus. • Experience integrating Splunk Enterprise Security. • Demonstrated experience with Splunk and PCF (syslog drain, Firehose Nozzle). • Working knowledge of Elastic/ELK is a big plus. • Solid system administration capabilities with good understanding of virtualization (KVM   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
