Technologies & Tools: Must Have: Core Java Unix/Linux experience Object Oriented Concepts TCP C++ RDBMS/SQL, stored procedures Design Patterns Strong Plus: Multithreading experience High performance systems (has used a profiler) Experience with real-time messaging system Experience with stored procedures (SQL Server & T-SQL or Oracle & PL/SQL) Financial industry experience Development Methodology: Rapid Application Development (RAD) Team Dynamics: Most developers have a great deal of domain knowledge. The detailed design will consist of defining the interfaces and the developers will determine the appropriate algorithms.
