This person has demonstrated experience with a broad range of Networking technologies, network security, firewalls, VPN and Intrusion detection, LAN, WAN, MAN and cloud connectivity. They have a systematic approach to their work, a strategic understanding of the role of Information Technology in the organization, and will address problems with comprehensive and sustainable solutions. Responsibilities: Design networking technology solutions for the organization including those related to LAN optimization, firewall and security configuration, VPN and WAN/MAN configuration (BGP, MPLS, QoS, etc.). Take an ownership role in the development of network solutions by designing, implementing, documenting and managing systems though their lifecycle. Define and lead the implementation of network monitoring and reporting tools Document network architecture, infrastructure components, and operating procedures. Assist in management, monitoring, and troubleshooting network and computer infrastructure as appropriate. Act as an escalation resource to the support team for troubleshooting network problems. Act as a mentor and resource to junior engineers, operations, and support staff. Participate in design review discussions with other members in the IT Infrastructure Services team. Advise management on ongoing needs and issues related networking, and security infrastructure. Required Skills: 10+ years of network engineering experience Cisco CCNA certification or better. Expert understanding of TCP/IP networks, IP Addressing (DHCP, IP Subnets), Ethernet technology in switched and routed environments (Layer 2 and 3), Network Load balancing and Voice over IP. Extensive experience with VPN, firewalls (hardware and software), and other network security systems. Clear understanding of the concepts behind Internet services and protocols such as HTTP, SMTP, and DNS. Experience in design, configuration, maintaining, and troubleshooting the following technologies: BGP, HSRP, OSPF, SSH, MPLS, QOS, ACLs, RADIUS, wireless 802.11 a/b/g/n, VLAN, NAC, 802.1x and port security, particularly using Cisco IOS. Experience with telephony systems and communications servers relating to Voice over IP and unified messaging including Cisco Unified Communications Server, Call Manager, and Contact Center. Experience with phone switch (POE) management, Move Add Change work and administration of telephony applications. Experience with monitoring systems for network, server, and security. Design and management of software packages for monitoring server and network uptime, issues, or faults along with security and intrusion detection packages. Deep knowledge of networking appliances and hardware such as switches (Ethernet, fiber, Infiniband), routers, network interface cards. Experience with multiple processor systems, RAID hardware, SCSI attached, iSCSI and SAN hardware. Expert with various Intel based computing systems including desktop, laptop, and server class machines. Good understanding of working with Microsoft Windows servers and Windows Client operating systems. Has strong experience and understanding of Active Directory and Group Policy. Knowledge of Linux/UNIX is a plus. Experience working with enterprise level, multi-tiered, web based, distributed applications is a plus. Familiarity with any software programming technologies, software development environments, source control concepts, scripting commonly repeated tasks, etc. is a plus.
