Familiar with 32 to 64 bit porting issues, Endianess impact due to porting Familiar with System calls, IPC, threads, socket programming etc Troubleshoot and resolve C based applications issues Create and update Unix shell scripts, Perl scripts. Develop and maintain Unit tests Work with peers to assist with resolutions Overview Migration Assessment Overview This document is a migration assessment for the FIS system from AIX to Linux and Sybase to MS SQL, which includes an analysis of the current environment, Proof of Concept scenarios, a detailed migration approach, transformation plan and potential issues, risks, mitigations and assumptions that impact the migration. Scope In-Scope The Factory Information System (FIS) system is in scope for migration. One pilot plant (Pilot plant may be Belvedere) will be migrated to the target environment. The FIS components in scope for migration include WCC Platform (C, Shell scripts) FIS Applications(C, Shell scripts) TECH scripts (Shell scripts) GUI Applications Sybase Sybase database. Cron Jobs (AIX Sybase) Shell scripts Out of Scope / or Exclusions Following are the exclusions The migration will be an as-is migration. Modifications to existing architecture, design or functionality is not in scope. Resolution of Existing defects are not in scope of this project. Any defects introduced due to migration will be addressed. Resolution of Existing Performance issues are not in scope of this project. Any performance degradation introduced due to migration will be addressed. Change of business process or any addition of new functionality are not in scope. Any changes to COTS or third party applications are not in scope. Decommission of existing environment is not in scope. There are a total of 22 plants running FIS Application. Only one plant (yet to be identified) is in scope for migration. The 21 other plants will continue to execute in their current environment and are not in scope for migration.
