Position Summary The Engineer will be responsible for the development and execution of a wide range of IoT demonstrations, labs and training content for Cisco internal and Partner audiences. The engineer plans, develops, implements and maintain content with responsibilities including content design, use cases, documentation, ordering, quality assurance, and project communication. Job Responsibilities Content Design 20% Document and plan all projects prior to entering project build phase. Work with platform and automation teams to review new content and revisions and gain approval. Candidate must be well versed in the use of standard design templates and tools (Microsoft Office including Visio, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Project). Specify and document virtual and hardware components as well as automation programs required to deliver a content. Design content using creative strategies to minimize hardware dependence and optimize virtual appliances for scale. Content Engineering 40% Document device connectivity of all components (virtual and hardware) and build as part of pre-work. Work with the operations team to request any rack, cabling, imaging, access and automation required for the content project. As part of the development cycle, the developer must work collaboratively with the business unit technical marketing engineers (TME) and product managers (PM) to configure solution components (both physical and virtual), Work with TME, PM and marketing resources to draft, test and troubleshoot compelling scripts/guides/use case(s) that provide value to the field sales teams and generate high interest and utilization. Where possible, script a value proposition or story around the Cisco IoT solutions. Previous vertical industry knowledge and/or experience is a plus. Work as the liaison to the operations team to resolve issues identified during the development and testing process, providing technical support and making design recommendations for fixes. Provide schematics/diagrams, as required, of design concepts aiding in the build and troubleshooting. Perform content resource study using VMware vCenter to ensure an optimal balance of performance, efficiency and stability before promoting/publishing production content. Work as both 3rd party liaisons and as independent content developer Add unique applications and unique automation scripts to dCloud content to improve scalability. Design reusable components, frameworks and libraries Project Management 15% Identify and prioritize all project related tasks. Ability to organize, strategize and communicate project goals, objectives and tasks at all levels of the organization. Ensuring that all 3rd party developers on assigned projects are reporting status effectively. Work with the IoT project manager to develop a timeline with high expectations to meet project deadlines.
