The ideal candidate will have an expert level understanding of Avaya platforms, including legacy Nortel CS1000M and CS1000E systems. The County is currently running on CS1000M platforms and anticipates upgrading and consolidating to a smaller number of CS1000E systems and converting from PRI to SIP trunking. We require assistance in validating our design goals and strategy, creating a detailed phone system design, working with Avaya to build the necessary bill of materials, working with Milwaukee County procurement to develop an RFP for the equipment, implementation and support contract for this upgrade, and assisting with the implementation and support transition of the system to the Countys telecom team. As this project entails converting to SIP trunking and the associated reliance on highly available data networks, the ideal candidate will also have experience in designing and implementing redundant WAN solutions. Although the County currently has a reliable WAN, it is currently single provider and we anticipate needing redundancy at key sites to meet our uptime requirements for the telecom system. The ideal candidate will work with the Countys connectivity team to finalize requirements and a design to implement the necessary network redundancy. The position will require some travel to various County facilities, all located geographically within Milwaukee County. General requirements for the technical architect role: Analyze systems and perform usability testing to ensure performance and reliability, enhance scalability, and meet security requirements. Career-Level position within field. Requires experience and proficiency in discipline. Conducts complex work important to the organization. Works with minimal supervision with wide latitude for independent judgment. Typically requires six to nine years experience or equivalent education.
