A flexible but unified approach is being pursued, to allow various state agencies to maintain their own branding and meet their own content needs, while providing consistency in overall look and feel. Designs are being implemented by the Client for NC.gov and several other high profile websites, in Drupal. Designs will also be implemented by other state agencies on various web content management systems, including DNN, Liferay, and SharePoint. Coded designs, a detailed style guide, and technical standards are being employed to support agency deployments. The selected UX designer will be working with an in-house designer and developers to accomplish this complex project. • Design, code and implement responsive websites • Produce stunning, attention grabbing assets for digital implementation • Promote the process of user-centered design • Participate in usability testing and solve usability issues • Ensure user interface design consistency across all product modules • Develop detailed wireframes, interaction models and user flows • Work with a team to communicate design standards and guidelines for a wide audience, by creating an easy-to-understand, detailed style guide • Meet with clients and partners regarding website and application development. • Maintain and generate new ideas • Test websites and applications for accessibility as well as usability • Social media integration and utilization Required Skills: • Minimum of (5) years of experience designing user interfaces for the web, following user-centered design principles. • Strong portfolio including task flows, wireframes, prototypes, etc. required. • In-depth experience with HTML, CSS, JS, responsive design, mobile-first thinking, and web application UIs. • Drupal and PHP coding experience • Proficiency with design tools, such as Photoshop, Illustrator or Fireworks • Solid understanding of and experience implementing responsive design. • Experience wireframing initial layouts and functionalities for websites and applications. • Excellent written, verbal and interpersonal skills. • Knowledge and practical application of accessibility factors, per ADA Section 508 requirements and W3C WAI guidelines. • Knowledge of browser compatibility across multiple platforms and devices. • Strong organizational, prioritization and multitasking skills. • Self-motivated, creative and strong sense of accountability. • Knowledge of and ability to use business office products (Windows, Word, Excel, Acrobat, Outlook, etc...). • 4 year degree in Computer Science, Design, Interaction Design, Human-Computer Interaction or related field, or equivalent experience.   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
