Job Description Developer: Agile Methodology, flex, J2EE, Java Javascript Web Services Websphere

[Note : Pay Rate for direct contractors on your payroll: $55-$60

Pay rate for a pass through vendor: $53-$57]

Description: Summary: Develop, create, and modify general computer applications software or specialized utility programs utilizing software packages considered. Responsible for designing software or customizing software for client use with the aim of optimizing operational efficiency. The technical skills include the knowledge of computer hardware and software.

Education/Experience
o Bachelor degree in computer science or equivalent training required
o 8-10 years experience required

Responsibility level
o Exercises independent judgment with minimal direction from supervisor

Skills
o Verbal and written communication skills, problem solving skills, customer service and interpersonal skills (Required)
o Strong ability to work independently and manage ones time (Required)
o Strong leadership and mentoring skills necessary to provide support and constructive performance feedback (Required)
o Strong knowledge of electronic equipment and computer hardware and software (Required)
o Strong knowledge of design techniques and principles (Required)
o Strong knowledge of niche computer software, such as Oracle, etc (Required)

Major Job Duties and Responsibilities:
o Review and approve modifications to existing software to correct errors, allow it to adapt to new hardware, or to improve its performance
o Review and approve the design and development of software systems, using scientific analysis and mathematical models to predict and measure outcome and consequences of design
o Obtain and evaluate information on factors such as reporting formats required, costs, and security needs to determine hardware configuration
o Counsel customers about software system design and maintenance
o Counsel systems analysts, engineers, programmers and others on project limitations and capabilities, performance requirements and interfaces
o Develop and direct software system testing and validation procedures, programming, and documentation
o Supervise the work of programmers, technologists and technicians and other engineering and scientific personnel

Extra notes:
Were looking for a senior developer who is not a tech lead, but is able to converse with tech leads and our other senior developers with some ease, on matters of designing for an enterprise application, and basic architecture, including when a certain design pattern should be used versus another one. A great team player and a good level of confidence is needed. We expect the developer to not falter on almost all Java related questions. Also, though we do expect some flex experience, knowing the fundamental concepts of flex should be enough. The developer, like all our developers here, are expected to “run with the ball” for small efforts, and provide designs and implementations that have been thought through well. Were trying to create an entrepreneur organization mentality in the group and the developer should be able to fit it. The ability to prototype with new technologies/hardware may be required. The person should be flexible to work on more than one prioritized task in a period, and be flexible to changing their implementation and design based on the applications future direction. The individual must also be able to easily converse on an abstract layer with management, and coherently present his/her ideas. We would prefer to interview those individuals who have either designed for teams (no matter the size) in the past, or have coded for themselves outside of the workplace, or have coded interactions with any hardware.
