IT MANAGER: VDI; ITIL; Desktop Support Infrastructure

JOB SUMMARY :
* IT Manager will help re-engineer and define desktop support for our customers while leading a team of IT professionals.
* The working lead will immerse themselves in our current infrastructure to support operational duties and propose the next evolution of desktop support for our campus user base.
* IT Manager develops and implements standards-based solutions that advance desktop management services including: software distribution, application packaging, scripts, operating system deployments, and the establishment of a standards-based desktop hardware architecture and application portfolio.
The candidate will join a team of IT professionals and will rapidly assess our current infrastructure for support of notebook and desktop infrastructure, with oversight and process development for server administration, and desktop integration/engineering activities.

Roles :
Design, implement and support technology solutions based upon the customers needs and organization objectives.
Appropriately use group policy, scripting, imaging, desktop utilities, and MSI packaging technologies to achieve automation, performance, flexibility, stability, recovery, and security goals.
Identifies zero touch technologies to automate or improve desktop services.

Required Skills :
* Proven Desktop Support lead, supervisor or manager experience of 3-5 years in large corporate or higher education environment
* 7-10 years Desktop Support Engineering experience in large corporate or higher education environment
* Must possess excellent written and interpersonal communication and problem solving skills.
* Ability to build organizational partnerships with users and quickly and effectively solve their problems.
* Ability to manage time and tasks in an organized manner. Must have the initiative to work efficiently without constant supervision or direction.
* Exhibit the ability to manage technical change and transition, while maintaining the status quo of day-to-day operations.
* Advanced experience with Active Directory administration.
* Proven ability to package and configure shrink-wrapped, home-grown, and compiled MSI applications for automated administrative deployments.
* Advanced knowledge of Windows operating systems, domain architecture, server side services, and interaction with the desktop environment.
* Extensive experience in end-user device technologies, application integration and associated services, operating systems, and related utilities.
* Experience designing unattended package builds, processes, and imaging utilities.
* Ability to evaluate software products and make recommendations based on business objectives.
* Advanced, demonstrated proficiency in operating system security, capabilities, vulnerabilities, and batch implementation methods.
* Demonstrated knowledge of VM and VDI environments.
* VB, and Batch scripting knowledge and abilities.
* Strong analytical and problem solving skills.
* Proven ability to automate and design software systems.
* Ability to create technical documents such as training manuals, release notes, product evaluations, and process diagrams.
* Exceptionable knowledge of industry packaging standards and quality assurance processes.
* Experience with Macinstosh support and integration with Windows Active * Directory and files shares.
* Familiar with ITIL, Six Sigma or other process frameworks.
