Were looking for a Big Data consultant with the appropriate level of technical skills to play a vital technical / oversight role in an ongoing data center migration effort of Oracle Big Data Appliance hardware. Ecosystem includes the Cloudera Distribution of Hadoop which runs on the platform with associated software. Necessary skills in addition to the Cloudera Hadoop ecosystem include networking, operating system (specifically Linux) and security topics (i.e., AD, Kerberos and LDAP) in order to understand the peripheral areas that touch on the Big Data platform as is implemented within our client. Candidate must work well as a member of a team. Must also possess project management skills to track progress against an established schedule and assist in clearing technical obstacles as encountered. Willing to take on whatever tasks are requested by other members of the team when needed. Principal Responsibilities Provide oversight and governance leadership to existing BDA build project in new datacenter. Provide technical leadership in platform build, security, troubleshooting and best practices within Hadoop product ecosystem. Oversee / provide technical guidance to employee and contractor resources assigned to the project. Provide technical subject matter expertise. Identify issues and risks, propose and implement solutions to keep project on target. Assess tasks and timelines required for on-time, quality deliverables. Participate in local and consolidated Data Center Migration project status meetings. Report progress to Data Management leadership team. Collaborate with business and IT stakeholders as necessary to facilitate implementation and rollout of DBA move to new Data Center. Knowledge & Skills Bachelors degree in business, computer science, information systems or related discipline, or equivalent and extensive related project experience. 5-7 years of progressive experience as a Big Data Platform Engineer with extensive experience in the Cloudera ecosystem of products. Working knowledge of relational database technologies (Oracle preferred). Experience in querying Hadoop platforms using Hue, Hive Financial Services industry experience preferred. Customer-focused and solutions-oriented mindset. Strong interpersonal and partnership skills. Strong verbal and written communication skills with internal and external stakeholders.
