Description :

IDPRs emphasis is on incorporating extensive content management tools and database driven architecture while providing a user-friendly, widely accessible (devices and browsers), intuitive site structure, and an interface that is both attractive and ADA compliant.
Overview
A. IDPR is seeking to update its website to enhance the user experience and incorporate innovative interactive travel-planning tools, supplying organized information that can intuitively be found by both current and future customers, while meeting high standards for design quality and visual appeal.
B. Effective websites provide dynamic content and modern technological tools that keep users engaged and informed. IDPR seeks to expand channels of communication to streamline messaging through newsletter subscription features and event listings with seamless integration with social media. Content sought by users must be easily found and navigation improved to make finding information more modern and user friendly.
C. IDPR would like to consider decentralizing specific website content management (events) to designated content editors within IDPRs parks and programs under the oversight of the agencys IT and Communications Managers.
D. IDPR seeks the assistance of a web design and development vendor that can accomplish all the functionality identified in this document, but has the flexibility of providing this functionality over time, if needed due to budgetary constraints. IDPR also seeks a service provider that has the capability of integrating additional features that may be needed in the future.

Content Management System
The current public facing website utilizes Drupal CMS and the Department desires the new site to utilize WordPress CMS to align with the State of Idaho Department of Administrations long-term web plan.

The Department finds the following sites to be excellent examples to reference. The themes, content and intuitive elements of these sites provide an excellent example to the look and feel we wish to accomplish with the new site.

Existing Components
The following components on the existing website need to be moved and functional in the new web environment.

Design Elements

-The ability for the user to quickly find the information they seek in an intuitive, efficient method.

-Trip Planner Tool

“What do you want to do?”
Travelers looking for information need a tool to guide them to create an “experience”.
A travel planning tool where the user chooses what type of activities they desire, what location(s) they prefer and what date range they desire. The application then produces a series of suggested locations and activities.

-An interactive calendar of events application that can be managed at the top level, park level or other specific department level.

-Social media integration:
Facebook
Instagram
Twitter
Future applications

-News Feed

-Embedded video from various sources.

-High resolution photo images, hero imaging/picture panes.
-Interactive map integration and management.

-Secure portal for employee access to internal resources and data.

-Mobile interpretive guides
Integrate the ability for users to download a standalone interpretive guide that has maps, information, audio walking tour programs, etc. Application should be able to function offline and utilize the location services of the smart device to guide the user through a park location, trail system, exhibit, etc.
