The primary responsibilities for this position will be working with suppliers to create/execute supplier mitigation plans to meet velocity (delivery) and cost performance requirements. Buyer will identify alternative suppliers using teams sourcing matrix. The buyer will also coordinate and execute the New Source Introduction Process (NSI) to resource parts/dual source parts to the new supplier. This role will also be responsible for managing material furnished to suppliers process. Support for this process requires significant engagement with the suppliers to ensure Client demand signals and rough material purchase orders are aligned and any related issues are resolved in a timely manner. Typical Day: Buyer would collaborate with the assigned supplier to confirm recovery plans are being met. Buyer would help the supplier resolve issues preventing the supplier from meeting Client schedules. Typical activities may include resolution of quality issues with help from a supplier collaboration engineer or supplier development engineer or helping to expedite material through a foundry. Buyer would also manage project plan to implement dual sources when needed. Education Requirement: College Degree or equivalent experience. Technical Skills Required: Familiarity with foundry and machining processes. Understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles as applied by Client and our suppliers. Capable of leading teams, suppliers and customers to effective solutions. Analytical, problem solving, and project leadership skill. Soft Skills Required: BACKGROUND/EXPERIENCE: Experience is preferred in purchasing, logistics, manufacturing, and/or engineering. A minimum of two years of progressively responsible job-related experience. Professional certification in Purchasing and/or Inventory Management preferred, e.g.; Certified Purchasing Manager (C.P.M.), Certified in Production and Inventory management (CPIM) and Certified in Integration Resource Management (CIRM), or comparable international certification. Well-developed interpersonal skills are required in dealing with sensitive issues, developing others, and reaching consensus on specific actions.
