Submission Deadline: 10/10/2018 2:00 PM Start Date: 10/15/2018 End Date: 6/30/2019 Client: Massachusetts Bay Transportation Authority (MBTA) Description: JOB DESCRIPTION FOR DATA CENTER OPERATORS The Role In general, the Data Center Operators act as a Network Operations Center (NOC) for the MBTA including: • Monitoring and maintaining all MBTA computer, network, and environmental systems • Act as Tier One support for MBTA computer and network systems on a 24 X 7 basis resolving problems or alerting the appropriate individuals who need to respond to any issue • Understand the business users, supporting Operations and the Operational Control Systems (OCC), and providing information to employees upon request • This position witl require the individual to work nights and weekends Specific Duties In specific, the MBTA Data Center Operators will perform the following duties: • Monitor all MBTA network and computer systems, and initiate problem resolution when necessary utilizing system tools such as: o Solar Winds o NextThink • Perform Help Desk corrective procedures including: o Password resets o Unlock user accounts o Disable user accounts o Create Service Now tickets o Contact on call personnel when necessary • Provide employees with information and problem resolution without delay in a polite and professional manner • Document all the requests and follow organization rules and procedures before providing information Perform all tape library maintenance functions including daily implementation of offsite storage procedures • Prepare backups for systems to ensure no data loss in the event of an outage • Maintain a safe and secure room, monitoring any unauthorized entry Operate/ monitor computer consoles and devices for all systems located in the Data Center, including: o Operating peripheral equipment to process work o Starting up systems and jobs o Making necessary adjustments to daily production job schedule via TIVOLI job scheduler o Entering required responses to system prompts and programs Skills and Attributes Outstanding technical knowledge about computer and network operations and systems security Outstanding organization, management, and customer service skills Ability to be proactive in identifying and resolving potential issues/problems Sound knowledge about rules and regulation of the organization for releasing data Ability to work quickly and provide information without delay A keen eye for detail and good observation skills in order to provide accurate data and spot mistakes Experience with Solar Winds is preferred   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
