Specific goals for the contract resulting from this RFQ include: • Under the direction of the Manager of Systems Engineering, provides third level support to end users • Design network topologies, architectures, and services that solve for many requirements • Design ahead of current customers or technology needs, predict and solve for future problems • Create and defend High Level Design (HLD) • Influence technology roadmaps, construct and test his/her solutions • Apply standard principles, concepts and techniques toward the identification and resolution of user problems • Interact primarily with other Systems Administration staff, customers, and Manager for assistance and direction • Perform other duties as required Required Qualifications: • Bachelors degree in Computer Science or Information Systems Management, or equivalent experience • 8+ years professional experience working in large scale, complex, networking environments. • Excellent oral and written communication skills • Ability to travel to off-site locations Preferred Qualifications: • Professional experience architecting/operating advanced solutions built on AWS • Advanced Knowledge of Networking Architecture, Firewalls, VPN connectivity, routing and network troubleshooting. • Experience architecting infrastructure solutions using both Linux/Unix and Windows with specific recommendations on server, load balancing, HA/DR, & storage architectures • Experience architecting or deploying Cloud/Virtualization solutions in enterprise customers. AWS specific experience a plus • Knowledge and experience with internet routing protocols and concepts: TCP/IP, BGP, MPLS, ISIS and/or OSPF • Experience in automation via Bash/shell scripting and Perl/Python programming. It is expected that the services of the QV will be required for forty (40) hours per week. The University anticipates that it will require the services of the QV beginning as soon as possible. It is anticipated that these services will be needed for a period of approximately 12 months, ending on September 30, 2019 and will be located in Worcester, MA. It is possible that the term will be extended for a period of time not to exceed the maximum amount of time allowed under the RFA, depending upon budget and business requirements and upon agreement of the Parties. Travel to other UMMS sites may be necessary. The University anticipates that it will select one (1) or more QV(s) (at the discretion of the University) to negotiate a contract(s) based on this RFQ on or before 10/15/2018.
