This position needs someone who is able to join a team but also hit the ground running when asked to work on their own. We need a multi-talented individual to play a hybrid role: technical systems analyst, business analyst, project manager. Join an experienced team manager and a driven, collegial peer-group (3-5 total) for this end-to-end mini-enterprise software initiative. Application Developer responsibilities may include but are not limited to the following: Support re-write and upgrade of the legacy custom application – toggling between BA, SA, and PM responsibilities. Write business requirements: Targeted to be concise, genuinely informative/useful to SMEs for sign off and for developers; May include: basic process flow diagrams (e.g. SmartDraw or Visio), logic diagrams, business rules (e.g. pseudo-code), cross-tabulations (e.g. user-role by feature/function) to clarify ambiguous or complex feature/functions. Logging of issues/requirements items in ongoing log (e.g. Jira), refining/locking down details with SMEs and developers; Working with SMEs to articulate current system replication and enhancement needs. Translate to specifications – mockup screens/screenflows, reporting views; data tabling/fields; I/O jobs. SA tasks including: SQL coding of report views for productionalization into stored procedures; Querying to vet business rules (e.g. contrast stated financial calculations vs observed financial amounts in historic database); specification of BI directly against database/outside the software; support of database design Serve secondarily as an SME to resolve/finalize technical requirements during coding and walk-thru. Set specifications, and manage implementation on system components associated with the software (e.g. vehicle license plate reader, barcode reader/printer, video/camera of vehicles. PM tasks include sustaining meeting cadence, coordinating team deliverables to target dates, ensuring holistic document-as-you-go paper trail documents the system, any/all PM work. Required Skills, Knowledge and Abilities Strong skills gathering requirements that are thorough, detailed, precise, and concisely written/drawn; Knowledge of formal requirements gathering methods Experience creating workflows for applications and business processes of moderate complexity (SmartDraw/Visio/other): entities, data flow, workflow, process, dependencies; Ability to quickly deliver sketches of key business specification items (e.g. SmartDraw or Visio). General skills to interact with SMEs, glean holistic view of processes with details. Familiarity with ETL and OLAP processes to relate to developers and DBA Preferred: hands-on SQL development skills to draft simple report-views (simple table reads/joins with few runtime parameters), do analysis/forensics on existing applications data, understand developers/articulate key points via SQL-styled logic Design/Development of test cases to verify application functionality; building/facilitating rapid testing Preferred: understanding/experience with the tech stack used by developers: SQL Server, Visual Studio/C+, Telerik controls/reports, ASP.Net/.Net Core frameworks, construct of 3 tier architecture, possibly microservices; legacy Crystal Reports Capability/attitudinal interest to pedantically own details/issues on code/flow, bringing to closure, and deriving requirements / specifications, communication with team Strong organization and writing skills.
