Job Description : Description: System Administrator Seeking a Computer System Administrator (Contingent Worker) for the Automated Inspection and Measurement Group in the Film and Materials Resource Division (FMRD) located in Maplewood, MN. Job Summary: The Automated Inspection and Measurement (AIM) group is responsible for fundamental technology development, application investigations, system integration, technology deployment, and system support across many 3M divisions in the areas of automated inspection, measurement, machine vision, automation, and process data systems. This group has deployed technology across 3M that includes hundreds of servers regularly processing terabytes of data. This person will work closely with the AIM software development and application teams, as well as other 3M organizations such as IT and local manufacturing groups to ensure computer system functionality. Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following: * New computer system configuration and testing along with ongoing support of existing computer infrastructure. * Point of communication with 3M IT, addressing all networking, security, and compliance issues * Understanding and specification of new computer system architectures Basic Qualifications: * Possess a 2yr technical degree or higher (completed and verified prior to start) from an accredited institution. Preferred Qualifications: * Bachelors degree in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or Information Systems * One or more years experience in full-time system administration role * Experience with server imaging and setup of windows applications * Experience with system security vulnerabilities and remediation thereof * Experience with Hyper V virtual machines * Experience with Microsoft SQL databases * Experience with Active Directory * Strong leadership, communication, organization, and team skills. Location: Maplewood, MN Travel to different plant sites is required - Up to 25% Position is a support role requiring more work direction whereby worker follows generally defined procedures. Responsible for the maintenance, troubleshooting, access, and backup for enterprise wide systems. Technologies supported include operating systems, servers, networks, system security, hardware and other software applications. Responsibilities: 1. Troubleshoot system issues and resolve or recommend solutions. 2. Create and manage system documentation, including configurations and backup procedures. 3. Create patches and updates as needed. 4. Participate in the definition and implementation of system components including new servers, hardware, software and upgrades. 5. Install, upgrade, support and troubleshoot operating systems. 6. Must possess solid knowledge of operating systems and networking hardware and software. 7. 1-2 years of experience functioning in a Systems Administrator capacity is required.
