Position also creates, maintains, and performs baseline checks of all DoIT Redhat Linux based servers. Position provides consultancy and oversight to security baselines outside of DoIT. * Position will be responsible for the assistance in the creation, completion, and maintenance of annual user recertification forms for access to server operating systems. Provide on-going support in the use of best practices in the design and layout of data center infrastructure. Make recommendations for pro-active approaches to prevent problems and enhance overall operations. * Position will plan the development of new software and hardware as it relates to the current and future university system needs by providing design concepts and suggesting functionality for the Data Center and other areas requiring systems support. Plan and develop security systems for the Data Center and throughout the university as it relates to the Unix, Linux and Solaris platforms. * Manage Projects to deliver the desired project outcomes, including the preparation for specification of equipment, tasks, schedules, expansion, capacity planning and the necessary collaboration and communication. Position will be responsible for developing technology solutions for new and emerging DoIT software and hardware requirements for the University. * Position will provide advanced level technical support for Unix based products (including Linux and Solaris) by troubleshooting and resolving technical issues in a timely manner. Problem solving will involve root-cause analysis as well as suggestions for and the implementation of appropriate solutions. * Installation of server hardware, software and operating systems; modification and configuration of hardware, software and operating systems for servers, workstations and terminals to assure equipment is up to date and operating efficiently and effectively.
