PURPOSE OF THE REQUEST FOR PROPOSAL

The Buffalo Public Schools, hereafter referred to as “BPS” or “District”, is an urban school district which serves approximately 33,000 students, 5,000 teachers and 2,500 administrative and support staff in New York State.

This request for proposal (RFP) provides interested contractors with sufficient information to enable them to prepare and submit proposals for consideration by BPS to satisfy a need for a number of field technicians to act as Technical Support Specialists (TSS) for technology support.

BPS greatly appreciates your response and potential assistance. Your response to this RFP will allow us to fully understand the scope of your organizations experience and qualifications in the area of desktop and laptop computer support.

BPS seeks a number of Technical Support Specialists to provide technology support throughout 65 building campuses. The district has an asset inventory consisting of approximately 63,000 computers (laptop, desktop, server, tablet/pad/handheld etc…) in a mixed environment of hardware and operating systems. In addition, printers, interactive whiteboards, video conferencing units, and digital projectors are deployed throughout the District.

SCOPE OF WORK

3.1 Vendors Requirements:
• Five or more years of experience in successfully providing technology services in a large educational setting with multiple sites
• Five or more years of experience in successfully providing cross platform computer support to include Windows, VMWARE, Mac OS, and iOS operating systems
• Ability to support large numbers of networked devices such as computers, printers, MFD copiers, videoconferencing units, and interactive displays
• Must provide building-based computer support staff as determined by BPS
• Support staff must work at a location designated by BPS and be solely dedicated to BPS in order to facilitate a timely response using a dispatch model during and beyond normal service hours (8am4pm)
• Must work in accordance with BPS Help Desk directives to provide classroom technology support throughout the BPS
• Must provide corporate-branded email for communication
• Must provide ongoing professional development to keep Technical Support Specialist skills up to date to meet BPS support needs
• Must provide adequate transportation to move a large volume of computers, printers and miscellaneous technology equipment between District buildings within 1 business day of request.
• If applicable, the consultant, its employees/subcontractors providing services under this RFP who will have direct student contact, whether alone or with employees of the District, shall obtain fingerprinting clearance, as required by the New York State Department of Education (SED), and submit a list of all employees/subcontractors who will be providing services to the District under this agreement, and proof to the District of such fingerprinting clearance, prior to the commencement of services. The consultant shall not permit any individual who has not satisfied these requirements to provide any services under this agreement. The District may, in its sole discretion, terminate this Agreement where the Consultant has failed to meet the requirements of this paragraph. The Consultant shall make no demand for, nor be entitled to receive, any additional compensation of any kind for any and all fees and costs for fingerprinting clearance procedures. The Consultant shall immediately notify the District in a manner consistent with this Agreement if any individual subject to fingerprinting clearance has been arrested and/or charged with a felony or misdemeanor in any jurisd
