This team provides infrastructure and database support for the organization. Resource will provide day-to-day support for BSA Database requests as well as participate in a on-call rotation with the rest of the team. This individual will also work on various other projects which may include AWS RDS SQL Server. SQL Server DBA Responsibilities: Administer, maintain and utilize policies and procedures for ensuring the security, and integrity of the databases. Resolve database performance issues, database capacity issues, replication, and other issues that arise. Support the SQL Server environment. Ensure changes and enhancements, interact efficiently with the database developers. Monitor database performance and analyze for performance optimization opportunities. Create/Implement database maintenance plans to ensure data integrity. Manage the backup and recovery process. Move data from one server to another – copy / restore. Manage DBA owned maintenance jobs – Index, DBCC, Backups, etc. Troubleshoot and resolve user and database issues to ensure databases maintain service level requirements. Review poorly designed queries that are affecting system performance. Provide guidance to less experienced team members. Proactively maintain AlwaysOn replication. Proactively monitor and adjust storage. On Call duties (weekend support every 8 weeks, also once every 8 days potentially) Utilize SCOM and DPA to monitor systems resources. Review poorly designed queries that are affecting system performance. Actively monitor and respond to ServiceNow tickets. Ensure backups are current. DR activities. Complete Emergency or Urgent RFC ddl/dml/restore activity. Monitor space to avoid capacity issues. Release Activities: Plan/coordinate several tasks to ensure all are completed when needed. Report completion of activities to the team. Schedule time with developers if there are questions/issues regarding release work. Review scripts to lessen issues on execution day. Position Requirements: AWS RDS experience Performance tuning – strong knowledge of SQL, joins, stats concepts Complete security requests – Understand Windows and SQL server security concepts. Windows Failover Clustering concepts. Basic Windows Server administration in order to maintain SQL services. Knowledgeable of MS Security recommendations and best practices. Works well with others on the team and has better than average written and oral communication skills. PowerShell scripting is a strong plus.
