Description: This positions will be part of the Bureau of Technology Services Network Team, which is responsible for managing, maintaining, and supporting a variety of mission critical networks. This individuals will be the equivalent of a Bureau of Technology Services Information Systems Analyst V. They will interface with members of this team and other technical teams, project managers, and internal/external City customers. The candidate should be proficient in the concepts of zone-based fire walling. Additionally, the ideal candidate should have at least 3 years of experience with Fortigate firewalls and 2 years of experience with Juniper SRX firewalls within the past 5 years, preferably including migrating services from SRX to Fortigate. Background Verification: Oversees the installation, configuration and ongoing maintenance of networked information systems. Uses knowledge of LAN/WAN systems to help design and install internal and external networks. Tests and evaluates network systems to eliminate problems and make improvements. Relies on established guidelines and instructions to perform daily job functions. Works under immediate supervision and usually reports to a supervisor. Requires a bachelors degree in area of specialty and over 6 years of relevant experience. Full-time professional work experience in Network Communication, Network Design and/or Configuration Management. Substitutions: Accredited college training may substitute for the required work experience, with a maximum substitution of four (4) years. (Fifteen (15) semester hours in Information Technology or a related area is required.) Accredited graduate training in the above area may substitute for the required work experience, with a maximum substitution of two (2) years. Successfully completion of an Information Technology Certification program, may substitute for the required work experience with a maximum substitution of two (2) years. (Proof of certification must accompany application.) Two (2) years of work experience as a LAN Administrator-Senior ; Help Desk Service Specialist-Senior ; Systems Administrator-Senior ; Network Engineer-Intermediate ; LAN Administrator-Intermediate ; Help Desk Service Specialist-Intermediate ; Systems Administrator-Intermediate may substitute for all of the required experience.   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
