The primary purpose of this position is to provide technically-savvy project management for specific aspects of the Modernization Program and its projects. The incumbent will facilitate technical planning and decision-making processes regarding the replacement and decommissioning of legacy systems during the course of the Modernization Programs many technological changes. The work includes the analysis, design, creation or modification, testing, and implementation of highly complex interfaces as they are transitioned from existing systems to the replacement solution. This position is responsible project management activities including developing and managing the execution of project plans, budgets, schedules and controls. As such, the person in this position should be a seasoned professional with experience and skills managing efforts to deliver technological solutions. The work will include assigning tasks, monitoring progress, creating schedules and reports, and collaborating with the Modernization project management team. The work being managed will include identifying and investigating data types and flows, design of temporary and permanent interfaces, and creating feasible plans for the decommissioning of existing solutions. As the legacy project manager, you will facilitate, track, and document this work. The individual in this position is expected to use facilitation techniques in both small and large group settings to work with Modernization Initiative, ITS, program staff, partners, stakeholders, and vendors. The requirements generated should solve business and technical problems clearly with defined outcomes for success. This position requires a substantial experience and knowledge project management, together with practical experience managing processes of complex system analysis, design, implementation, and testing. The position will interact extensively with multiple levels and types of staff. Strong communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to work well with diverse backgrounds and skill levels are necessary. The individual in this position will be expected to balance multiple competing priorities and projects. This individual will report to the Deputy Modernization Director.
