Description :



The COVID-19 Program at Tennessee Department of Health (TDH) seeks a qualified Case & Community Support Specialist (CCSS) to support the Case & Community Support Team (CCST). The CCSS will work alongside 3 experienced CCSSs after completing shadowing and training. The CCSS role will counsel Tennesseans that call into the CCST Hotline in a manner that builds trust between the caller and TDH. Responsibilities include taking phone calls from the public, providing credible guidance, recording call information in REDCap, and supporting public health operations as needed. The job also involves frequent collaboration with the rest of the team through Microsoft Teams chat and weekly virtual Team Huddles. The candidate should demonstrate an initiative to apply public health knowledge, interpersonal skills, and creative problem-solving while serving others.

Key Roles & Responsibilities:

Counsel Tennesseans that call the CCST Hotline in a manner that builds trust between the individual and TDH
Document call information in REDCap database
Communicate public health guidance, policies, and procedures to callers and stakeholders as instructed by Team Lead, Team Supervisor, Branch Lead, and/or Program Director
Continuously identify barriers faced by the public in accessing health services and resources; initiate and facilitate discussion on such barriers with fellow team members or external partners as needed
Coordinate timely follow-up with callers as needed
Maintain and improve processes to handle complex call concerns
Provide timely notification of urgent concerns to appropriate TDH teams or programs.
Provide support to emerging responses within broader program on an as-needed basis

This is a full-time, paid, contract position. Details including pay rates, benefits, and initial onboarding should be directed to the contract agency. Candidates are preferred to be local to the Nashville area and able to commute to the TDH Central Office in Nashville on Tuesdays. Training and equipment will be provided. This position has an anticipated end date of June 23, 2023 with the possibility for extension. Opportunities for continued employment may be available within other areas of TDH, depending on demonstrated job performance and skillset.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Enthusiasm for reducing the impact of communicable and environmental disease in communities throughout Tennessee using evidence-based strategies
Strong emotional resilience within the workplace
Ability to maintain confidence and compassion when supporting individuals with deeply personal health concerns
Bachelors in a related degree (e.g., public health, public relations, social work, political science, etc.) or 5+ years of relevant workforce experience
Ability to effectively perform job responsibilities without direct oversight
Ability to effectively manage responsibilities while taking initiative to solve problems
Ability to speak, read, and write English
Strong critical thinking skills
Strong verbal and written communication skills
Ability to type a minimum of 35 words per minute
Proficiency with computer software including Microsoft Office products
Efficient time management skills
A quiet, distraction-free workspace
High-speed, wired internet connection
Ability to work 37.5 hours per week between 8 am and 6 pm CT

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge or experience using telecommunication systems including hunt groups, Jabber, and Twilio
