The SDET has primary responsibility for test planning, test case design and execution, test case management, defect management, metrics collection and reporting. Focus is on increasing the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the software testing teams, increasing the technical depth of tests performed, and decreasing the effort required to perform repetitive testing activities 1. Uses test automation to perform software testing activities for technically complex areas of testing, such as performance and load testing, SOA and web services testing, and backend data validation. 2. Works with other software testing staff to identify opportunities for the use of automated testing scripts, tools, harnesses, etc. Recommend technical strategies to contribute to the overall effectiveness and quality of testing projects to meet business needs. 3. Analyzes business needs, project requirements, and technical constraints to design, estimate, build, and execute automated testing solutions which enable a level of depth, speed, or volume of testing that would not be feasible using manual testing techniques. 4. Independently writes and maintains automated testing deliverables for ongoing consumption and use by both manual and automated testing engineers. 5. Develops automated test scripts to emulate production workloads and activities and assesses performance and scalability of software systems under load. Analyzes results, identifies trends, and reports performance metrics to other IT technical staff. Works with architects, developers, system administrators, network engineers, client-server engineers, and other technical IT staff to troubleshoot and identify root cause of performance problems. 6. Troubleshoots from various perspectives and identifies all facets of technical issues and risks within sphere of influence. Communicates and recommends solutions and mitigations that consider downstream impacts. 7. Effectively & professionally communicates status, risks, issues, and findings verbally and in writing. Translate technical language to non-technical customers, and influence peers, leads, and managers across IT. 8. Promotes creativity and proactively seeks alternative solutions to business problems. 9. Finds ways to add LEAN internally and cross departmentally, and drives only processes that are value-added. 10. Promotes teamwork, facilitates collaboration across testing teams and leads by example within the department. 11. Performs other duties as assigned. Minimum Qualifications: 1. Bachelors degree in Computer Science or related field or four (4) years work experience in Information Technology. 2. Seven (7) years experience in Quality Assurance or Software Testing and at least three (3) years of the experience must be in test automation. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities: 1. Deep technical knowledge of automated testing, performance, load and stress testing, design and implementation of automation frameworks, automated test script design, build, execution, and maintenance. 2. Solid knowledge of systems analysis and design, technical writing, logical and physical application architecture, including database, client-server, web, mainframe, middleware, and windows technologies. 3. Advanced skills in test planning and estimation, test case design, execution, and management, defect management, metrics, and reporting. 4.
