Dont need to live in Madison area but may need to come into office at times. Description: We have an immediate opening at the Department of Employee Trust Funds (ETF) for a Data Architect. ETF is a state agency that is recognized as a leader in providing public employee benefit systems. This position is responsible for providing leadership in data architecture for a multi-year, multi-phase modernization effort. This includes a “best of breed” implementation with different vendor solutions including enterprise content management (ECM), health insurance, pension, and other benefits systems. The data architecture system components include database management systems (both internal and external), master data management, an integration platform (MuleSoft), and a data lake platform. This position will also contribute toward data governance, data literacy and data quality improvements. Key Job Responsibilities: • Define ETFs future data architecture, including how data flows between systems, how it is used by different areas of the agency, and challenges • Work with key business partners, data stewards, technical staff, and vendors to understand what data will be collected by new systems and provide recommendations on how the data will flow through systems with consideration for a phased implementation and ETFs desired future state • Analyze business requirements and convert into technical data requirements • Perform analysis of systems and data to incorporate into recommendations • Collaborate with agency staff to define standards, policies, and procedures to improve the management of data throughout its lifecycle with an emphasis on improvements to data quality • Participate in gathering requirements, planning, and implementation of a master data management system (Semarchy) and related data governance improvements • Articulate the trade-offs, benefits and risks of all architecture and design solutions • Develop regular progress reports for management to communicate status on data architecture efforts • Contribute to an overall agency data strategy • Participate in the requirements gathering, selection and implementation of a metadata management solution • Assist with data modeling for the data lake platform as needed • Create and maintain data architecture documentation (e.g. data flows, architectural diagrams, etc.) • Define, communicate, and document relevant data standards to apply to ETF systems • Contribute to data literacy efforts to help ETF become a data-driven organization Knowledge, Skills, Abilities, & Experience: • Experience with complex technology systems implementations which include data solutions using APIs and integrating data access layers across systems • Experience working with integration platforms such as MuleSoft or comparable • Ability to shape and execute data strategy across the organization with a focus on quality and urgency • Experience in systems development life cycle, IT project management approaches, and requirements, design, and test techniques • Direct and proven working experience with data management concepts and activities including an understanding of industry best practices for data sourcing, master data management, data quality, metadata management • Understanding of dat   Call 502-379-4456 Ext 100 for more details.
