Description :

The Administrative Information Management Services (AIMS) is a part of the University of Wisconsin-Madison and has a customer base that consists of approximately 2,500 workstations and users who are primarily running Windows 7 and Windows 10 in a Microsoft environment. Our users are distributed across campus on local networks which are protected by firewalls that AIMS manages. Users run typical administrative type software such as the Microsoft Office 365, Adobe Creative Cloud, Chrome, etc. We are looking for temporary help for at least one year to assist with desktop lifecycle management processes while a service consolidation project is completed.
Under the general supervision of the Field Services unit within the AIMS division, this position will work closely with team leads to:
Assist with replacing users end of life workstations with new ones utilizing our imaging and build processes and tools
Assist with upgrading workstations from Windows 7 to Windows 10
Provide user support and administration of customers workstations when not engaged in the activities listed in 1 and 2 above

The first two activities will occur in locations around campus. The user support activities will occur at the WARF building at 610 Walnut Street primarily via remote tools however travel to customers locations around campus may be required. AIMS has a fleet of vehicles for travel to customer sites if necessary.Our toolset includes:
- Altiris for desktop and operating system patching and application management
- An incident/service request call management tool (Applix)
- Active Directory and Group Policy
- Various remote desktop management tools
Inventory management system (locally built)? Integration of multiple data sources and databases into PHP applications
? Familiarity with limitations of PHP as a platform and its workarounds
? Familiarity with SQL/NoSQL databases and their declarative query languages

Provides technical support in a higher education environment, specifically focusing on computer life cycle management (e.g. end of life hardware replacements). This role will receive directions from the Field Services manager and work as part of a larger IT support team. This role requires self-motivation and the ability to work independently or as part of a larger team.

List of some of the Qualifications/Skill Requirements:

* Demonstrated technical competence in a customer support environment

* General analytical and troubleshooting procedures needed to help users

* Experience with help desk call tracking and incident management applications and concepts

* Experience provisioning workstations using an endpoint management tool such as Altiris, SCCM, BigFix, etc.

* Experience supporting workstation hardware, particularly Dell computers and HP printers and scanners

* Installation, configuration, and support of Windows 7 and Windows 10

* Experience upgrading workstations from Windows 7 to Windows 10

* Experience providing customer support through the use of remote desktop management software

* Experience supporting Microsoft Office 365 and Adobe Creative Cloud applications.

* Must pass UW Madisons Risk Management application process to obtain authorization to operate UW Madisons fleet vehicles. This requires 2 years of verifiable driving experience.
