Performs administrative duties on the IBM 3584 Tape Library as follows: •Checks error logs. •Configures the Code Relief Autovault software as required. •Determines space remaining in library. •Ensures offsite tape cartridges are sent offsite. •Notifies appropriate contact and works with technician to resolve any hardware issues. •Monitors tape utilization. •Works with appropriate contact to resolve any issues related to backups. 3. Performs administrative duties on the Cisco MDS 9513 SAN Switches as follows: •Checks error logs. •Configures zoning to meet security requirements. •Notifies appropriate contact and works with technician to resolve any hardware issues. •Troubleshoots any connectivity issues. •Monitors port usage. •Recommends solutions for future growth. •Resolves issues with Host Bus Adapters (HBAs) on SAN attached clients. This new position will also perform the following secondary duties: 4. Assemble/install hardware 5. Configure servers 6. Install server software/drivers 7. Configure network printers 8. Connect/disconnect devices to the network in Harrisburg and remote office sites 9. Respond to network/server related trouble calls 10. Research and resolve issues with all server software 11. Test and install server software update/upgrades 12. Proactively identify and resolve problems 13. Place service calls for servers and network equipment 14. Assist service providers in resolving service calls 15. Assist in standard configuration development 16. Create/update disaster recovery plans 17. Participate in disaster recovery drills 18. Work with PennDOT partners and employees including IT coordinators in deployment activities 19. Attend meetings with PennDOT developers, users, and partners 20. Perform Technical Lead duties for a variety of projects Knowledge of IBMs DS8300 Storage software and IBM XIV Storage software. Knowledge of Code Relief Autovault Software. Strong knowledge of IBMs DS8300 and IBM XIV Storage Subsystem. Strong knowledge of IBMs 3584 Tape Library. Strong Knowledge of Ciscos MDS 9513 SAN Switches. Strong knowledge of PC operations, printer operations, file server operations, print server operations, and network operations. Strong knowledge of Windows and Windows products, personal computer software set up and installation, PC connectivity products and PC hardware connectivity. Working knowledge of Tivolis Storage Manager. Working knowledge of Microsoft Office products (Word, Excel, Powerpoint, Access, MS Project). Demonstrated ability to establish and meet work schedules within limited time frames and under tight deadlines and a willingness to work off hours as the need arises in support of changes. Effective verbal communication skills are required to work with all levels of the organization including management, vendors, and various PENNDOT personnel. Effective writing skills are required in order to document work performed. Superior interpersonal and customer service skills required including ability to work effectively in a team environment.
