Description : SCOPE OF THE PROJECT: Work Schedule: 5:30 PM to 2:30 AM (Monday – Friday). Under minimal supervision, responsible for operating high volume printers and inserter, including monitoring the status and operations of computer schedules and network systems. Conducts daily inspections on peripheral equipment and reports any abnormalities. Ensures the day-to-day processing functions complete in the absence of the Computer Operations Supervisor. Under general supervision, the contractor will serve as an operator reporting directly to a functional manager. Contractor will be a team member that ensures the stability and integrity of data, and computer operations through monitoring, maintenance, support, and optimization of all computer operations equipment. This individual has 24/7 on-call responsibilities shared with the group. DAILY DUTIES / RESPONSIBILITIES: Non-Technical • Operates and coordinates all areas of computer operations as the need arises, including monitoring production schedules and network systems, and operating peripheral equipment. • Responsible for ensuring a stable operating environment and attaining maximum utilization of system facilities. • Works directly with application teams, technology services staff, and business users to ensure efficient & effective planning, implementation, and processing of the agencys production systems and critical testing operations. • Manages the production schedule: process requests from business users, monitors jobs for successful execution, takes corrective action when needed. Follows established procedures to resolve problems with production, notify responsible parties of problems, and log problems • Operates and monitors console systems and peripheral equipment such as printers, sealers, inserters, and binders. Troubleshoots and restores routine technical service and peripheral equipment, schedules production runs, performs system backup processes, disaster recovery tests, loads tapes, disks, and paper as needed. • Performs printing tasks: conducts routine inspections on equipment and reports abnormalities. Unloads printed materials, and maintains IRS requirements for processing FTI. • Performs inserting tasks: clean equipment; inserting & sorting; loading & unloading materials; checking finished product for defects. Reprints documents damaged by inserter. Troubleshoots problems by analyzing, identifying, and diagnosing faults and symptoms. Reprint damages correspondences & reconcile printed materials with inserted materials to avoid disclosure of taxpayer information. Follows IRS Requirements for processing FTI as determined by section procedures and IRS Publication 1075. • Monitors network operations: monitors, identifies, and reports problem affecting networking systems performance and availability as determined by section procedures. • Effectively interact and communicate with peer to Director-level IT professionals. • Provide feedback to team regarding product issues, enhancements and new features. • Must have initiative, drive and be a self-starter. • Ability to ask pertinent questions of others. • Requires a combination of physical activity and basic computer skills.
